Sunday evening six week study with Pastor Bob Geaschel. Discover Relational,
Contextual Witnessing with E1HW (Every One His Witness). Learn how to naturally and genuinely share the Gospel with your friends and neighbors who have not heard the Good News. After this six week study, you will be more effective witnesses of Jesus in your everyday life! Sunday evenings on March 11, 18, 25 and April 8, 15 and 22. Each session will start with a dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by the study at 6:30 p.m. We will meet in the church library. The class is limited to 30 so please sign up today. For more information, see Pastor Bob or see the brochure in the narthex, at the display.

Join us for the Thy Will Be Done special service for Week 1 of Lent. In this service we remember that, at first, Moses did not think he could free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. But God gave him confidence to set his people free. In Lent we remember that God sent his Son to do his will and set all people free from the slavery of sin. Lenten services are at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Youth Board is serving a soup and sandwich luncheon at 11 a.m.

The Bell Choir rehearsals will be on Wednesday evenings in the church narthex from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. The ability to read music is not required, but helpful, and anyone high school age and beyond is most welcome to join us!

The Sanctuary Choir sings in church, at the 8:30 a.m. services only, and also has Wednesday evening rehearsals, in the church balcony, from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. We sing in unison, 2-part and 4-part harmony formats, and all voice parts are needed and welcome! We sing anthems from the 16th Century right up to the present, and, WE HAVE LOTS OF FUN!

The Lutheran Witness magazine subscription is up for renewal by Feb 18. If you are interested in continu- ing to receive you subscription or would like to start a subscription, please call the church office at 708-839- 1200 or email Nancy, the church secretary, at csecretary@tlbr.org. Our Story

kaleidico-3V8xo5Gbusk-unsplash

Sample Lutheran Church has had an active presence in Lansing and its surrounding communities since 1986. It was established by Rev. Sample. Sample Lutheran Church held sacramental worship at the High School starting in September, 1984.

On July 1990, Sample Lutheran Church closed on the purchase of 10 Oak Drive, a former retail space in downtown. Over the next several months the congregation transformed the building into a multi-purpose facility, in which they started worshiping on February 24, 1991 and dedicated on May 5, 1991. Our building is not only used for ourselves (e.g. worship, Bible Study, meetings) but also we have opened it up to the Whitmore Lake community (e.g. open prayer, Girl Scouts, warming shelter, food distribution).

Sample Lutheran Church received a charter from the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and became an independent congregation on April 17, 1986.

The congregation has an entrepreneurial mindset that motivates ministry that reaches beyond our walls and into the local community. We strive to grow our members and regular attenders into a mature faith walk centered on God’s Word. We are focused on building faith-based relationships with one another and those we interact with on a daily basis, especially the family. We are intentional in supporting the family with a variety of resources and experiences.

Mission & Vision

paul-skorupskas-7KLa-xLbSXA-unsplash

Our Mission Statement is based on Matthew 28:19-20

“To go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything [Jesus] commanded…”

Our Vision Statement supports our mission and is based on 2 Corinthians 5:14,16-17

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died…So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

“We are looking for every opportunity to share Jesus.”
